Jeanne Gooseberry (Ribes uva‑crispa ‘Jeanne’) is a premium, nearly thornless gooseberry variety prized for its large, smooth, deep red berries and exceptional sweet flavor. Unlike many traditional gooseberries, Jeanne produces fruit with very little bitterness, making it ideal for fresh eating as well as jams, desserts, and preserves. This modern selection is also valued for its strong disease resistance, especially to powdery mildew, offering reliable harvests with excellent fruit quality.
This compact, upright shrub typically reaches 3–5 feet tall and wide. Jeanne Gooseberry thrives in USDA Hardiness Zones 4–8 and grows best in full sun to partial shade with moist, well‑drained soil.
